May 2011

The Qu’Appelle Valley Horse Pull Club got off to a great start on April 9th in Tisdale.  Fourteen teams competed.  The results in some of the classes went right down to inches.  The winners were – Heavy Weight – Rick Bryne; Middle Weight – Norman Vertefeuille; and Light Weight – Rick Bryne.  The photographer didn’t attend, so we don’t have any photos of the big smiles. Everyone agreed it was a great start to the season.

On May 21st, weather permitting, a weigh-in is being held at Norman Vertefeuille’s at 1:00pm.  Bring your teams out and have them weighed and find out who you will be competing against in the coming pulls. Call Norman @ 306-731-3108 for more information.

A number of the teamsters have registered for the horse pulls at the Calgary Stampede this July.  Be sure to check The News to see who will be pulling in what division.  We will try and post when each weight division pulls takes place so you can plan on going to cheer them on.

The club’s first pull is at Vibank on June 4th.  Vibank is celebrating its’ 100th birthday so there will be lots to see and do.  One of the things to watch for, are the Snow Birds when they do their fly over at noon.

If you have anything you’d like included in The News, please send it to QVHPC@yahoo.ca.
